The Board of Substance Abuse and Mental Health
The Board of Substance Abuse and Mental Health provides policy direction for the Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health. Members of the Board are appointed by the Governor and approved by the Utah State Senate. The Board meets on a regular basis and determines the general policies and procedures that drive the public substance abuse and mental health system.
The board's responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Establishing minimum standards for delivery of services by local substance abuse authorities or local mental health authorities.
- Developing policies, standards, rules and fee schedules for DSAMH.
- Establishing the formula for allocating state funds to local substance abuse authorities or local mental health authorities through contracts.
- Developing rules applying to the State Hospital, to be enforced by DSAMH.
